A Bigger Net for Cyberbullies

SALEM — The Oregon House on Monday unanimously approved a bill that aims to reduce cyberbullying among school children.

Senate Bill 1555 would require all school employees to be designated mandatory reporters of student harassment, including intimidation and cyberbullying. School districts themselves would be responsible for setting the penalty for an employee who failed to make such a report.

Under the bill, school volunteers and students would not be required to report cyberbullying but could voluntarily do so anonymously.
